In honor of the first American race car to win the Le Mans 24 Hours, Ford will release the 2022 Ford GT Limited Special Edition. In 2016, the Ford GT finished first, giving the company a perfect record at the race dating back to 1966. Only 20 of the final special edition Ford GTs will be produced. Soon, the 2022 Ford GT Limited Special Edition sports cars will be delivered to customers. Production will finish later this year.
Choose between red or blue carbon fiber components highlighting the supercar's low aerodynamics. The ultra-light front diffuser, side wings, and door sills are all tinted. The same hue is also applied to the back diffuser, the mirrors' arms, and the engine compartment grille. Shiny carbon fiber 20-inch wheels with red or blue highlights on the sides, titanium bolts, and black Brembo brake calipers contribute to the model's contemporary appearance.
The 3D-printed titanium dual exhaust pipes on the Ford GT LM Edition model are one-of-a-kind, with a pattern on the inside of the ends that alludes to the car's 660 hp EcoBoost twin-turbo engine.
Alcantara-upholstered carbon fiber seats are only one example of the Ford GT LM Edition's one-of-a-kind interior. The driver's seat will be the corresponding color depending on whether the car's exterior is red or blue. The passenger seat is also finished in Ebony Black, with contrasting stitching to match the driver's seat color. Ebony leather and Alcantara are used for the dashboard, while Ebony Alcantara is used for the pillars and roof. The A-pillars, the bottom of the center console, and the air vents all feature matte carbon fiber detailing.
The Ford Performance team looked for ways to bring the spirit of the Le Mans-winning car into every road-going supercar to make the Ford GT LM Edition a genuinely unique way to say goodbye to the success of the Ford GT model.
To celebrate the 2016 Le Mans triumph of the No. 68 Ford GT driven by Sébastien Bourdais (France), Joey Hand (USA), and Dirk Müller, Ford has released the 2022 Ford GT LM Edition.
After 20 hours of racing, the No. 68 Ford GT took the lead for the final time, echoing the famous Ford vs. Ferrari struggle of 1966. It wasn't always like this; previously, the Ford and Ferrari No. 82 had been racing side by side. Ford's three-time passing of Ferrari has reignited the 50-year-old rivalry between Ford and Ferrari.
The No. 69 Ford GT, driven by Australian Ryan Briscoe, New Zealander Scott Dixon, and British Richard Westbrook, came in third. Ford GTs 66 and 67, finishing fourth and tenth, respectively, were a big help to the company's overall performance.
The 2022 Ford GT Limited Special Edition is a celebration of the car's Le Mans victory and the dedication and hard work of the Ford Chip Ganassi team that made it possible.
By the end of the year, in addition to the unique versions built for road use, Ford Performance and Multimatic would have manufactured 45 Ford GT MkII unique models designed only for track driving.
