The Kia EV6 achieved "good" in all six parts of the IIHS test for driver and passenger safety. It is the highest score on a scale of four, including protection from frontal impacts with minor and moderate overlap, side impacts, roof strength, and neck injuries. The test also said that the headlights were "good."

The Kia EV6 electric car also got the highest rating, "superior," for its systems that keep it from colliding with other cars or pedestrians in front of it. On a scale of three points for preventive protection, this is the best score the IIHS gives.

This year, the European safety rating system Euro NCAP also gave the Kia EV6 the best possible score of five stars. The Kia EV6 electric car got 90 out of a possible 100 points for protecting adults, 86 for protecting children, 87 for helping with safety, and 64 for protecting pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.

This year, both the Kia K5 and the Kia Stinger got the best overall score that the IIHS could give, called a Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+).

"The Kia EV6 electric car is a big step forward for our program and has already gotten much attention in its first year. We are delighted that the car got the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, which shows that we are committed to giving our customers new products that put safety and performance first" -Steven Center.

Kia wants as many people as possible to be able to switch to electric cars. Today, 83 percent of the vehicles Kia sells are rechargeable, and the average CO2 emissions for a Kia car are 35 grams/km, the lowest of the best-selling electric car brands in the country. Kia wants all of the vehicles sold to be rechargeable by 2024.
