Lamborghini's first hybrid-powered super sports car will be unveiled in weeks. In the meantime, the Italian automaker has unveiled two unique one-of-a-kind creations to commemorate the end of a fantastic era with the traditional V12 engine and the beginning of a brand-new chapter in the company's history with the introduction of hybrid technology.
Lamborghini's flagship exclusive customer program culminates in the Lamborghini Invincible coupé and the Lamborghini Auténtica roadster, two really one-of-a-kind creations that exemplify the brand's aggressive and limit-pushing ethos. The factory affords the possibility of making one-of-a-kind, completely personalized models by integrating the buyer in the design process from the get-go.
As one of our founding technologies, the V12 engine is essential to our legacy. We honor the classic V12 with two models that also showcase our proficiency in customizing vehicles as we usher in a new era in which we embrace hybrid technology as part of our Direzione Cor Tauri plan," said Automobili Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann.
The two stunning new sports cars are built on the proven V12 platform and were created by the experts at Lamborghini's design center, Lamborghini Centro Stile. Some of the visual cues that have helped make this brand instantly recognizable can be seen in Invincible and Auténtica. This is shown, for instance, in the use of the hexagon and the Y-shaped features, much as the racetracks' layout commonly influences the cars.
"Following our passion for motorsport and track days, we designed two unique vehicles. According to Mitja Borkert, Automobili Lamborghini's Head of Design, "Lamborghini Invencible and Lamborghini Auténtica embody our design DNA while taking our design legacy to a new level."
Both one-offs are built around the same bare chassis (or "monocoque") found in the Lamborghini Aventador and include carbon fiber bodies refined via extensive racing experience at Lamborghini. The unique hood comes once more from the Essenza V12 track day vehicle, while the striking front spoiler with vertical struts is made to regulate airflow in the most effective manner possible.
This unwavering commitment to the quality of the driving experience is reflected in the interior design, characterized by clean, crisp lines and a minimalistic instrument panel from which only the driver can see a display.
Before moving into a new era of hybrid vehicles, Lamborghini developed only two sports cars—the Lamborghini Invencible and the Lamborghini Auténtica—with a 6.5-liter V12 engine. With its final revision, the departing V12 generates 780 horsepower and 720 Newton meters of torque. It combines a Lamborghini Dynamic Steering with a co-steering rear axle, a four-wheel-drive system, and a 7-speed ISR transmission. @via Lamborghini Invincible.
