Opel has released the first photographs of the forthcoming Opel Astra Electric, the brand's first all-electric production model. The Astra Sports Tourer Electric is an electric station wagon introduced by the Rüsselsheim-based firm.
"The Opel Astra Electric and Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric are true trailblazers: with the new battery-electric variants of the five-door and station wagon, consumers will be able to drive in luxury, comfort, and above all, with a lot of driving enjoyment with no local emissions in the future" CEO Florian Huettl explains.
The Opel Astra and Opel Astra Sports Tourer are already available as electrified plug-in hybrid models, including the new, particularly sporty Opel Astra GSe, and combustion engines. Orders for the completely battery-powered Astra Electric will be accepted beginning in April 2023.
The electric motor in the Opel Astra electric car produces 115 kW/156 horsepower and 270 Newton meters of maximum torque. This means that top speeds of 170 km/h are feasible, while certification values are not yet available. A 54 kWh lithium-ion battery stores the energy. According to the WLTP standard, the batteries ensure that the new Opel Astra Electric can go 416 kilometers per charge.
