In honor of today's celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Stellantis has announced the European expansion of the Autonomy program. This program provides modified cars equipped with driving and wheelchair transport devices adapted to various disabilities, expert assistance and specialized financial terms for purchasing a new vehicle.
Although the Autonomy program started in Italy with the Fiat brand, it will eventually be rolled out to all of the Group's brands across Europe.
On Autonomy's social media channels (Facebook and Instagram), you can see a film featuring the Nuclear Tactical Penguins starting today. This Bergamo-based band recently joined the project to advocate for the disabled community through Autonomy.
Besides the Nuclear Tactical Penguins, the video features three great testimonials from Giulia Ghiretti, a Paralympic swimming champion who has won 18 medals at international competitions; Arturo Mariani, a mental coach and motivational speaker who founded and captained the Asd Roma Calcio Amputati; and Francesco Bonanno, a multiple champion of the Italian Paralympic national table football team and co-founder of the related federation. Three envoys whose individual histories have significant overlap with Autonomy's goals.
On this day dedicated to people with disabilities worldwide, we'd like to share a story about our time with athletes and influential individuals like Giulia, Arturo, and Francesco. Riccardo Zanotti, leader of the Nuclear Tactical Penguins, said, "After talking with them, we understood the similarities and shared ground we share: music and sport frequently go hand in hand, and both feed on rhythm, energy, sacrifices, and emotions." Like theirs, our existence consists of tournaments, live performances, and trips. The challenges of regular life can be better understood and dealt with after some time away. As this example from the streets of Milan shows, travel is also a great way to meet new individuals with interesting backstories.
Stellantis has also refreshed the program's brand identity, beginning with a logo redesign and descending into more subtle forms. Among these is a variant with solid visual ties to the automaker family; this is done to make Autonomy a genuinely international endeavor in more ways than one. The image of the person and the wheel is kept and enhanced; it is now positioned in the middle of the word "autonomy." The font and color scheme have been modified to forge a closer bond with Stellantis.
As part of this massive shift, the stellantisautonomy.com website has also been updated. It has been designed to walk the buyer through each stage of the buying process, from deciding which vehicle best suits his needs to have it expertly installed by one of our many business partners.
Since 1995, Italy has been home to 15 Mobility Centers, which serve as hubs for disabled people to receive the technical and medical guidance they need to apply for and receive a special driving license. A successful program requires cooperation from the industry's leading converters.
Over the years that the project has been going on, it has become a leader in helping people with disabilities move around and get to places on a trajectory of steady development that takes another step forward today in pursuit of greater resonance, thanks in part to social media. Specifically, the Nuclear Tactical Penguins and the three Ambassadors have developed social media posts with the hashtags #unamarciainpiù, #disabilità, and #DisabilityisNotInability as part of the Autonomy Program's action plan for these channels.
