The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse is different from your average family hauler. The midsize SUV has been completely redesigned for the new model year, with a more aggressive look, a new turbocharged engine option, and a first-ever Z71 off-road trim. The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse aims to appeal to a wider range of customers who want more versatility, performance, and style from their three-row crossover.
The Chevrolet Traverse is the third generation of the model that debuted in 2009 as one of the first crossovers to offer seating for up to eight passengers and a spacious cargo area. Since then, the Chevrolet Traverse has faced increasing competition from rivals like the Ford Explorer, the Toyota Highlander, and the Hyundai Palisade. To stand out from the crowd, the new Chevrolet Traverse adopts some design cues from its bigger sibling, the Chevrolet Tahoe, such as a taller front end, a larger grille, and a quad exhaust.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse also offers more choices for customers who want different driving experiences. The base engine is still a 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. However, for the first time, the Traverse also offers a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that replaces the previous 2.0-liter turbo. The new engine produces 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque and is available on the LT and RS trims.
The RS trim is the sporty option for the Chevrolet Traverse, with black accents, 22-inch wheels, and a unique suspension tune that provides better handling and responsiveness. The RS also comes with leather seats, a sunroof, and a trailering package.
The Z71 trim is the off-road option for the new Chevrolet Traverse, and it comes with features that make it more capable on rough terrain. The Z71 has all-wheel drive with a twin-clutch differential that distributes torque to the wheels that need it most. It also has off-road suspension, skid plates, hill descent control, and terrain mode that allows one-pedal driving. The Z71 also has red tow hooks, 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and Z71 badging.
The Chevrolet Traverse also offers more technology and safety features than before. The SUV has a best-in-class 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has wireless charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and an optional rear-seat entertainment system with dual 8-inch screens.
The new Chevrolet Traverse also comes with standard safety features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, and rear seat reminder. It also offers optional features such as adaptive cruise control, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, HD surround vision, and a safety alert seat.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse is expected to go on sale in early 2024 with a starting price of around $34,000. The SUV will be available in six trims: LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, RS, Premier, and High Country. The Z71 package will be available on the LT Leather trim.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse is a midsize SUV offering more than space and comfort. It also provides more power, style, and adventure for customers who want to explore new roads.
