Lancia has recently unveiled its latest model: the new Ypsilon. The Ypsilon is a compact hatchback that combines elegance, technology, and eco-friendliness. It is designed to appeal to urban customers who value style, comfort, and sustainability.
The new Lancia Ypsilon results from a collaboration between Lancia and Stellantis, the multinational automotive group that owns brands such as Fiat, Peugeot, Citroën, and Opel. Stellantis has provided the Ypsilon with a new platform, engines, and features, while Lancia has infused the Ypsilon with its distinctive flair and heritage.
The Design of the New Ypsilon
The 2024 Lancia Ypsilon is a four-door, five-seater hatchback that measures 3.84 meters in length, 1.67 meters in width, and 1.51 meters in height. It has a wheelbase of 2.39 meters and a boot capacity of 245 liters. It is available in nine colors, including three new ones: Bianco Ghiaccio (Ice White), Blu Venezia (Venice Blue), and Rosso Passione (Passion Red).
The exterior design of the new Ypsilon is inspired by the Lancia logo, which consists of a shield and a spear. The front grille, the headlights, and the fog lights form a shield-like shape, while the hood, the roof, and the tailgate create a spear-like silhouette. The Ypsilon also features chrome accents on the grille, door handles, window frames, rear bumper, LED daytime running lights, and rear lights.
The interior design of the new Ypsilon is based on the concept of “Ypsilonness”, which means the expression of one’s personality and taste. The Ypsilon offers a customizable dashboard with different colors and materials, such as wood, leather, fabric, and metal. The Ypsilon also has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a wireless smartphone charger, a digital instrument cluster, and a premium sound system with six speakers.
The Performance of the New Ypsilon
The new Lancia Ypsilon is powered by two engine options: a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.2-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine. The petrol engine produces 70 horsepower and 92 Nm of torque and is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The hybrid engine combines a petrol engine with 69 horsepower and an electric motor with 3.6 kW, and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid engine can run on electric mode for up to one kilometer at speeds of up to 30 km/h.
The new Ypsilon is equipped with several safety and assistance systems, such as hill start assist, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, speed limiter, emergency brake assist, rear parking sensors, and rearview camera. The new Ypsilon also has a start-stop system and a smart alternator that helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions. The new Ypsilon has a fuel efficiency of 4.7 liters per 100 km and a CO2 emission of 107 g/km for the petrol engine, and a fuel efficiency of 3.9 liters per 100 km and a CO2 emission of 88 g/km for the hybrid engine.
