The Peugeot e-3008 is the French brand’s first model based on the new Stellantis STLA Medium platform. It’s a compact electric SUV with a fastback design, a next-generation i-Cockpit, and a choice of two battery sizes, offering up to 700 km of WLTP range. But how does it achieve such impressive numbers and compare to its rivals in the electric SUV segment? Let’s find out.
The STLA Medium platform: a game-changer for electric vehicles
The STLA Medium platform is one of the four new modular and scalable platforms developed by Stellantis, the world’s fourth-largest automaker, formed by the merger of PSA and FCA. The platform is designed to accommodate different types of vehicles, from hatchbacks and sedans to SUVs and crossovers, with various powertrains, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric.
The platform’s main advantage is its high energy density, which allows it to pack more battery capacity in a smaller space. The Peugeot e-3008 offers two battery options: a 73 kWh pack for a range of 326 miles (WLTP), and a 98 kWh pack for a range of 435 miles (WLTP). These are among the largest batteries available in the market, and they give the e-3008 a significant edge over its competitors.
The platform also features a high-voltage architecture of 800 volts, which enables faster charging and better performance. The e-3008 can charge up to 160 kW at a compatible DC fast charger, reaching 80% of its capacity in just 30 minutes. The platform also supports bidirectional charging, which means the e-3008 can act as a power source for other devices or vehicles.
The platform is not only efficient but also flexible. The e-3008 can be configured with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, with one or two electric motors. The front-wheel drive version has a single motor that produces 204 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque, while the all-wheel drive version has two motors that deliver a combined output of 340 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque. The e-3008 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds (FWD) or 5.5 seconds (AWD), and reach a top speed of 160 km/h.
The fastback design: a blend of style and aerodynamics
The Peugeot e-3008 is not only a technological marvel but also a stylish and elegant vehicle. It features a fastback design, which gives it a sleek and sporty silhouette while also improving its aerodynamics and efficiency. The e-3008 has a drag coefficient of 0.28, lower than most of its rivals.
The e-3008 also boasts a distinctive modern exterior, with a bold front grille, sharp LED headlights, and claw-shaped taillights. The e-3008 also has some unique elements that differentiate it from the conventional 3008, such as the e-monogram on the front wings, the blue accents on the grille and the rear bumper, and the exclusive 19-inch or 20-inch wheels.
The e-3008 is available in eight colors: Pearl White, Nimbus Grey, Vertigo Blue, Platinum Grey, Perla Nera Black, Cumulus Grey, Ultimate Red, and Celebes Blue. The e-3008 also offers three levels of trim: Active, Allure, and GT. The GT version is the most luxurious and refined one, with features such as full LED headlights, black roof rails, leather seats, ambient lighting, and wireless charging.
