In the first six months of 2022, Jeep seized 5.3% of the market. The traditional American brand Jeep had a very successful first half of 2022, with 7,452 new registrations, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). New Jeep registrations are up 6.7% year-over-year, to 468. Jeep remains the most popular SUV and off-road vehicle brand despite an eleven percent drop in new registrations. Jeep's strong performance in Germany during the first half of 2022 places the brand among the top third of all German brands. Jeep's SUV division had a 5.3% market share in 2022's first half and a 4.4% share in the year's first six months.
It's also noteworthy how many low-emission vehicles (LEVs) make up new registrations. LEVs make up only 24.8% of the market, but in the first half of 2022, 57% of all Jeeps sold were LEVs. Therefore, Jeep's LEV market share is much higher than during the same period last year (27 percent). Since May 2022, Jeep has only sold its Renegade, Compass, and Jeep Wrangler off-road vehicles with electric drives in the small and compact SUV market, which has a lot of customers.
The Jeep Compass compact SUV was the main growth driver in the Jeep portfolio, seeing 3,871 new registrations between January and June of 2022. The number of new registrations rose by 24.6% compared to the same time period a year ago.
"The very pleasing half-year result motivates us to make further significant gains with the new Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe," said Luigi Saia, Head of the Jeep brand at Stellantis in Germany. The brand-new Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe will be available from dealers in the year's second half.
