Skoda is always coming up with new, intelligent, real-time ways to improve road safety. As part of a pilot project, Skoda is now expanding its traffic information and entertainment app with the help of the Czech railway company. Customers already using this app can now get the update. A message about this is shown in the infotainment system's notification center, and there's also a note in the in-car shop that says an update is available.
The cloud is regularly updated with where the trains are right now. This tells all Skoda cars with the Traffication app close to a level crossing that a train is coming. The warning is brought to your attention by a pop-up window on the central infotainment display and a sound. Skoda is already working on combining with other European railway companies and is talking with several possible partners.
The Traffication app can be downloaded in the car or at the Skoda Connect shop. Except for the Skoda ENYAQ iV, it is available for all current Skoda models with the top infotainment system from the third generation of the modular infotainment platform. While driving, the app runs automatically in the background and doesn't need to be turned on separately. The system immediately lets you know if there are relevant dangers close to the car by putting relevant information on the central infotainment display.
The app uses reports from different traffic information providers or data from Skoda cars to show other information along with warnings about coming trains. The Traffication app can tell the driver about bad weather, accidents, and road conditions. It also knows when someone is going the wrong way and lets other drivers know as soon as possible. By turning on the fog lights, Skoda cars can tell when visibility is bad and tell the cloud about it. Also, if they have the Traffication infotainment app, Skoda drivers can send traffic problems to the cloud with one click to warn other Skoda drivers. The app is currently available in 32 countries in Europe and gives warnings in 23 different languages.
